You see the woman at the supermarket -
she takes out the check but can’t fill it out-
Even as she asks for the date and the amount, she sighs a heavy sigh but she smiles – Hoping no one can tell why she can’t remember. I look away, and so do you………… In another time and place, she’s wandering in a parking deck, looking for her familiar car, was it level 1 or 2, sad she’s forgotten, she’s so ashamed. And as the people walk on by, they look away and so do you. It’s THEIR mother, or THEIR father, but they don’t belong to you and so you look away, yet another day.
So now arrives what was the distant future, its hurried,it stares us down-
it’s knocking at our door and, yes,
once more, There’s a shell of a person behind it alone. But she has forgotten
the real meaning of everyone around her. and in that home she cannot say the hour or the day. She reaches out to hold you, a daughter or a son, the loss of recognition already has begun.
And you look away, yes, you look away.
But will you look away upon that fateful day, or will you remember? No you will not let yourself look away. God is watching, He will not look away, that is His
child, that is your mother. And so we stay,
yes every day, and we look into those eyes of fear and the unknowning. We cannot look away. It’s her turn to look away. And then she’s gone, looking back at us and then looking away. Hmmmmm. Hmmmm. Looking away/ This is a tribute to my Mom
with Alzheimer’s. Please forward to Mr. Flatts. I think he would be the perfect person to sing it and I think songs like this need to be written and sung for so many, perhaps he will think so, a video would rock millions of lives as it has no boundaries. I wonder if he has a loved one with it.

My mom is 85 years old, because she is
my mother I never look away. I fight the battle with her, every day. And so do others. Thank you. Charlene Prater

Perhaps you should not publish it, but send it
along the way to Mr. Flatts. He is so busy it would probably take 6 months to do it. But I know you have what it takes to do just that.
Please do it. And hold onto the song, don’t publish it. Thanks so much. Charlene Prater
